How does solar work?
Basically solar is an incredibly viable way to produce economical power to run our homes but do you know how it works and what happens to the power you don’t use ?
The sun sends photons down to the panels which then collect and convert those photons into Electricity, pretty neat right.
After the power has been produced, converted and used, your excess power will be sent off to ‘the grid’. The Grid is the interconnected network that feeds electricity from the retailer to the consumer but the with solar it goes both ways. You want to try to avoid sending as much solar off to the grid as you can as the Tariff is a lot lower than the cost of power these days.
The rates charged by your retailer can range from 23 cents – 27 cents per KWH, which is each hour of power that is used and generated, the power you put back in to the grid is then paid to you by your retailer of 8 cents – 11 cents.
The bottom line is to use as much of your daily power during sunlight hours, we do have an option to install a power diverter which can maximise where and how your excess power is used and you can find this and more information in our products.
